About our congregation

ABOUT US

We aim to be a growing community of Christians through which:

  • The good news of Jesus Christ is celebrated and shared;

  • People of all ages are encouraged and assisted to worship God;

  • We seek to hear and respond to God’s call;

  • People are encouraged to grow in their understanding of the Christian faith and its application to everyday experiences;

  • We are cared for and equipped to serve others;

  • Marginalised members of the community are welcomed accepted and served.

Ministry & Worship

Mother's love

We have been a lay lead congregation for more than a decade, supported from time to time by lay preachers and retired clergy.  Some ordinary (non-ordained) members have undergone limited training at the Centre for Theology and Ministry over the years. The result is a competent Worship group whose responsibility is to plan, schedule and deliver worship each Sunday.

Community Outreach & Activities

ELM ST MISSION

In 2019 Bayswater Uniting Church embarked on a new mission journey. A need arose to provide accommodation for an existing Social Support group run by Rev. Deacon John Tansey.

Thus Elm St Mission was born.  The current Co-ordinator, Ms Barbara Laug, was appointed in 2023.

MEN'S GROUP

We are host to the Knox Cluster Men's Group which meets at 7:30pm on the first Thursday of each month except January. Sometimes we are addressed by a speaker, other times we share our interests or concerns but always engaging. Partners are invited on occasions.

FAITH EXPLORERS BOOK CLUB

The group meets via Zoom to read and discuss a book of current interest, relating to, but not necessarily directly on the topic of, our spiritual journey. We meet at 10:00 am every second Tuesday.
